Steuben REC has been awarded a $250,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture, Rural Development ‘Assistance to High Energy Cost Rural Communities’ grant program. The grant will be used to offset the cost of the purchase and installation of a Steffes Electric Thermal Storage (ETS) heating system in member’s homes. In addition, Steuben REC offers a $3,000 cost share. The Steffes ETS heating systems, coupled with our ETS/Time-Of-Use rate, can provide a savings of 30 – 60% on home heating costs for our members.
